Studio Blue Pilates
With 20 years of movement experience, Dan brings depth, warmth, and precision to every class — meeting you exactly where you are. Whether you’ve been practicing Pilates for years or you’re stepping onto the mat for the very first time, you’re in the right place.
Each day at Haramara, you’ll move through two 90-minute mat sessions on an open-air pavilion overlooking the Pacific. Morning class wakes the body up with intention — building core strength, improving mobility, and setting a grounded tone for the day. The afternoon session is where you unwind, stretch deeper, and let the work settle in.
Retreats are different from your regular week day class at home. You have time. Time to breathe, to listen to your body, to actually feel what’s happening instead of rushing back to the car. Your nervous system gets to relax — and that’s when real change happens. Students often leave surprised by how much more is possible when the noise of daily life falls away.
If you’re new to Pilates, this is a beautiful place to begin. Classes are tailored to the group, always all-levels, and Dan has spent years making this work accessible without dumbing it down. You’ll leave each session taller, stronger, and more at ease in your own skin.
Dan has been teaching at Haramara since 2013. He’ll be your guide — on the mat and off.

About the Instructors:
Dan has been a fixture in the Portland fitness community since 2006, bringing nearly two decades of experience to every session he teaches. In 2007, he founded Studio Blue Pilates in NW Portland with a simple but powerful vision: to create a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of age, gender, or movement background. As a certified Pilates and TRX instructor, Dan is passionate about helping clients understand their bodies in a positive, encouraging way — one that makes movement feel both healthy and fun.
Dan’s commitment to his craft goes well beyond the studio floor. Over the years he has pursued extensive continuing education in movement science, completing certifications and workshops with some of the most respected names in Pilates and functional training, including BASI, Stott, and Karen Clippinger. His specialized training spans topics such as injury rehabilitation, scoliosis, osteoporosis, shoulder biomechanics, gait analysis, and Functional Movement Screening (FMS Levels 1 & 2) — giving him the tools to meet clients wherever they are on their movement journey and help them reduce or eliminate pain.
When he’s not on the reformer, you’ll likely find Dan out in the Pacific Northwest — hiking through the woods, snowshoeing, or unwinding on a beach. That balance of active living and genuine love for movement is at the heart of everything he brings to Studio Blue.
