Soma + Terra Thanksgiving Retreat with Micheline Berry and Guest Artists
THANKSGIVING REIMAGINED
by the sea . in the body . with wild nature
More than a yoga retreat, this is a call to adventure in wild nature.
For 6 days / 5 nights on the Nayarit Riviera, we will immerse in nourishing somatic practice, frolic in warm ocean waters, Mexican gastronomy, a wild dolphin swim, eco-adventure, daily yoga journeys with Micheline Berry held in the beauty of Haramara, and a special Thanksgiving seafood feast inspired by seasonal Mexican gastronomy, prepared with love and care by our chef.
THE PRACTICE WITH MICHELINE BERRY
Morning Energizing Vinyasa / Evening Relaxing Yin Practices
There is a tangible power in practicing in nature, away from our screens, where the art of attention becomes a way of returning to the regenerative rhythms that modern life so often interrupts. Micheline’s classes are designed for all levels. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or newer to yoga, the practice will meet you with intelligence and care.
Most mornings begin with Micheline guiding you into your body through vinyasa and meditation in Haramara’s open-air yoga shalas, with sweeping 360° views of jungle, sky, and sea.
Rooted in Buddhist dharma, somatic intelligence, and breath-based movement, the practice is strong, fluid, soulful, and intelligent — a return to rhythm, sensation, and deep presence.
Afternoon Yin sessions offer a quieter counterpoint: deep stretches that release of networks of myofascia , nervous system restoration, and spacious relaxation.
Some classes will be accompanied by the evocative live music of my husband, Joey Lugassy, and friends.
YOUR WILD DOLPHIN ENCOUNTER
An unforgettable experience in the open sea.
For 12 years we have worked with the same marine biologist who has spent years studying and building a respectful relationship with the local dolphin pods who live in Bahía de Banderas. In our past five outings together, we have encountered dolphins every time. Each time we entered the water from the boat, the dolphins came toward us and played.
Because they are wild beings, the encounter is never forced or staged. We enter the water with respect and awe, allowing the dolphins to choose the interaction. When they do, it feels like being welcomed into another intelligence of the sea: playful, exhilarating, and unforgettable.

Hike Monkey Mountain on a guided 2–3 hour trail through a protected coastal preserve, with expansive views of jungle, coastline, and the Pacific.
WHILE AT HARAMARA You’ll also have time to daydream from your cliff-side casita, wander jungle paths, walk and swim at Haramara’s private beach, relax by the cliffside saltwater infinity pool, receive optional bodywork, or take the 10-minute walk to one of the area’s best surfing beaches.

About the Instructors:
Micheline Berry is an Artist, Producer and Embodiment Mentor whose work integrates yoga, somatic practice, immersive travel, art, and deep encounters in nature to awaken the body’s innate intelligence as a wellspring for creative renewal. She has guided thousands—rock stars and artists, impact leaders and cultural change-makers, somatic practitioners and dancers—through journeys that restore presence, ignite creativity, and foster embodied connection.
Micheline holds a B.A. in Film Production and advanced to candidacy for both a M.F.A. in Film Direction and a M.A. in Dance as Healing and Therapy at UCLA, where her early research explored the relationship between performance, narrative, and embodiment. Her methodology is shaped by decades of study in yoga, postmodern dance, Buddhist meditation, and Afro-diasporic movement, ritual and rhythm, and is deeply informed by the work of Victor Turner, Simone Forti, Laurie Anderson, and other artists, movers, and thinkers.
She is the founder of Liquid Asana Vinyasa, a teacher training and somatic leadership program based in Brazil. She has led over 100 immersive retreats and somatic trainings across the globe, including the Atlantic rainforests of Bahia, the Tuscia hills of Italy, the cliffs of Mallorca, Spain, and the highlands of a New Mexican Zen center. Each experience she curates invites participants into deeper intimacy with their bodies, the land, and one another—honoring our interdependence as a source of belonging.
Her recent creative collaborations include producing and directing For Freedoms’ 2024 campaign film Where Do We Go From Here, co-producing SOLEFUL, a somatic storytelling podcast for The School of Lived Experience, designing embodiment pedagogies for the Guild of Future Architects, and creating a 2month somatic residency at Tenuta de Paternostro in Rome, Italy. A polyglot (English, French, Portuguese), Micheline’s work is based between Los Angeles, Brazil, and Europe. She continues to create immersive environments where practice becomes a threshold into embodied presence, deep connection, and creative renewal.
